Children & Youth

Knox welcomes children of all ages and has designed programs to help them grow as Christians and in the church community.

Sunday Mornings. We offer teaching for younger children over the age of 2 on Sunday mornings during the worship service and encourage older children to join us for the worship service. A nursery is available for children under the age of 2.

Knox Family Game Nights. Family game nights are when Knox families and friends – young and old – get together for supper, games and encouragement.

Adults

Young Adults. Monthly get-togethers and hangouts are planned for our 20 and 30-somethings! We are an open community looking to learn how to integrate our faith into everyday life. Contact Alex, alex.hovda@knoxpc.org, for more information.

Adult Education. This takes place on Sunday morning, Sept-May, and includes classes and discussions on the Bible and other topics relevant to our faith. They are taught by engaging professors from local seminaries or Knox’s own pastoral staff.

Women’s Bible Study. Knox Women’s Bible Study meets at 9:30 Tuesday mornings.  We spend 1/2 hour doing a Life Guide study book and then prayer.  All are welcome!

Small Group Opportunities

Choir. The Knox Choir meets Wednesday nights, and sings once a month as well as at Advent and Easter. For information, contact the choir director, Amy Hinds, at office@knoxpc.org.

Small Groups. These gatherings of 6-10 people provide a time to study and pray together and to get to know others in the church. Most groups meet from September through May. If you’re interested in learning more, contact the Knox office at office@knoxpc.org.

Serve

Knox has teams that work throughout the year to plan and deliver programs with specific needs in mind. People can serve a few months or more; the teams are:

Worship Team. Evaluates worship service and how it can be enhanced to facilitate our collective worship of God. Contact Alex Hovda, worship director.

Knox Community Life. Plans church gatherings and other elements of community life. Linda Berg.

Strategic Community Outreach Team. Works with non-profits to reach people in need in our local community. Contact Alex Hovda.

Strategic Teaching and Educational Team. Works with the pastor and elders on a teaching and educational program that enables Knox and the communities we serve to become whole and holier followers of Jesus. Contact Linda Berg.

For Knox Church and its members, mission and outreach activities are a form of worship and an expression of our Christian commitment. Below are some of our neighborhood partners.

Community Emergency Services. CES provides an outreach, crisis relief and empowerment ministry to over 70,000 people annually in the culturally diverse Phillips Neighborhood on the south side of downtown Minneapolis. Knox has been a partner with CES for more than 20 years, providing leadership on its board and helping pack and distribute food through its Meals on Wheels program, Thanksgiving and Christmas food distributions and helping at its food shelf. www.cesmn.org.

Mobile Loaves Twin Cities. Knox has been a partner with St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in delivering food to people and families in need through Mobile Loaves Twin Cities. Teams work out of the Knox kitchen to prepare sandwiches and other items to be delivered in a mobile catering truck to those in transition in the city. www.mobileloavestc.org.

National and International Missions. Knox Church has been dedicated for more than 100 years to helping take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations. We are a congregation that encourages Christians to live out their faith. In recent years, members of Knox Church have traveled to Haiti, New Orleans, Native American communities in Northern Minnesota, South Africa, Ghana and more. We are continually looking for new opportunities to serve and other organizations with which we can partner.
