This Sunday, Dr. Christian Collins Winn will speak at the 9:30am worship service on the the Bible’s teaching that the gentle will inherit the earth. (Matt. 5:5; 11:29; Gal. 5:22-23). Gentleness is in short supply in our day and age. We look around and we see violence, we see bullying, we see people who would be afraid to be gentle because it seems to communicate weakness. But in the biblical witness, gentleness has a power all its own, a power that upsets the status quo. According to Jesus, it is the gentle who will inherit the earth, not the powerful, or wealthy, or power hungry. And Paul tells us that such gentleness does not simply come from personal disposition; rather it is the fruit of the Spirit.
Join us Sunday as we seek together to hear the witness of the Spirit speaking through scripture and calling us to lives of gentleness, and to solidarity with the humble and meek. Child care is provided.
