A new summer class for adults begins June 3 at 7:00pm at Knox. The class is on the Confessing Church and will also be reading together Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s classic, “Life Together.” The Confessing Church was a movement in the 1930s to resist the Nazis, and raises major questions, not least because it was also a failure. Though German Protestants managed to resist a complete takeover, the price was their silence in the face of Nazi policies. Bonhoeffer, one of the leaders of this church, wrestled with the questions: What will it mean to be Church after such a failure? What credibility can the church have after it has given up its voice? As part of the class, we will be reading together Bonhoeffer’s amazing classic, “Life Together.” The class will include presentations plus small groups, and runs for 8 weeks. You can order a copy online at Target, Amazon, Christianbook.com ($10.74) or Walmart ($6.49).
